Almeria
Almeria is a famous Spanish resort located on the Mediterranean Sea, the capital of the eponymous province, situated in the eastern part of the autonomous region of Andalusia. Its population is about 188,000 people and the area – 134.65 sq km. The name of the city in Arabic Translation literally means “mirror” (this beautiful location was formerly called “Mirror of the Sea”). Almeria was founded in 955 year at the time of the Cordovan Caliphate. In the 15th century the town was finally won over by the Spanish Kingdom. The Rise of Almeria and its transformation into a modern industrial city is connected with the opening in the region of iron ore deposits (18th century).
